Payroll & HR

Patriot Payroll review

Cheap, no-frills payroll for a small shop: you run payroll in three steps, pay W-2 employees and 1099 subs in the same run, and on the Full Service plan Patriot files and deposits your federal, state and local payroll taxes.

What it costsas of August 2026
Basic Payroll
$17/mo basePlus $4 per worker paid; you file your own payroll taxes
Full Service Payroll
$37/mo basePlus $5 per worker paid; Patriot files federal, state and local

Both plans are a monthly base fee plus a fee for each worker you actually paid that month, billed in arrears, so a month with no payroll costs only the base. On Full Service, filing in more than one state costs $12 a month per additional state. Add-ons are Time and Attendance at $6/mo plus $2 per employee and HR Software at $6/mo plus $2 per employee. Every product has a 30-day free trial, and when checked Patriot was advertising 50% off for six months on top of it.
