Win & keep customers

The best online booking software for trades

Online booking comes in two shapes, and they are not the same product. Inside a field-service tool, a booking writes itself onto the dispatch calendar. On a website builder, it lands in a separate scheduling app you pay for on its own. Squarespace shows that clearly. Its booking product, Acuity, starts at $16 a month on top of the site (as of August 2026).

I want the tool that covers the most ground. Ranked by how many of this category's jobs the tool does out of the box. Features that cost extra count for less than ones that are included, and we do not reward a long feature list if half of it is an add-on.

What decides it in online booking

A booking that lands on the schedule

The point is turning a visitor into a job on your calendar without a phone call. Field-service tools do that natively. Housecall Pro lets customers self-book from your site or from Google. Jobber schedules the booking automatically as it comes in. ServiceM8 gives you a free add-on for round-the-clock self-booking, with an optional deposit. Workiz uses a separate link per source, so you can see which ad or listing produced the booking. FieldPulse includes a customer portal where clients pick their own slot. GorillaDesk is the one that gates it, putting online booking and the customer portal on its Pro plan and up. On a website builder, the booking sits in its own calendar and somebody still moves it onto the dispatch board.

On a website builder it is two bills

Squarespace does not include booking in its site price. Its scheduling product, Acuity, is a separate subscription starting at $16 a month paid yearly, while the Basic site plan is $19 a month paid yearly or $25 month to month. That is about $35 a month before you have taken a single deposit. Wix includes Wix Bookings on a paid plan, with a service list, a calendar and reminders. The catch there is payments. The $17 Light plan cannot take money online, so Core at $29 a month is where a booking site starts (all as of August 2026). Both of them advertise the yearly price, and paying month to month costs several dollars more every month on either one.

Deposits and reminders decide the no-shows

A booked job you cannot collect on is worth less than a phone call. Look at two things. First, whether you can take money at the moment of booking. ServiceM8 lets you ask for a deposit as part of self-booking. Squarespace takes cards and invoices on every plan, though the Basic plan keeps 2% of store sales and Core keeps none. Wix Light cannot take payments at all. Second, whether the tool texts the customer before you turn up. Housecall Pro includes appointment reminders and On My Way texts with an ETA. Jobber holds automatic reminders and on-my-way texts for its Connect plan and above. GorillaDesk includes automated email and text reminders on every plan.
