The best invoicing software for trades
Invoicing is the one job every tool here does from a phone at the curb. What separates them shows up over the next thirty days. Some push the invoice straight into QuickBooks so nobody retypes it at tax time. Some set the customer up to pay themselves. Others hand both of those back to you, or hold them for a higher tier.
Who wins where
I want the tool that covers the most ground. Ranked by how many of this category's jobs the tool does out of the box. Features that cost extra count for less than ones that are included, and we do not reward a long feature list if half of it is an add-on.

What decides it in invoicing & billing
Sending it before you leave the driveway
Every tool here bills from the truck. The catch is signal. Kickserv has no documented offline mode, so the app needs a connection to do anything at all. GorillaDesk lets you look at jobs and invoices offline, read-only and only for the current week. Housecall Pro shows the job and the schedule offline, but editing needs a signal. Jobber lets you fill forms and add notes offline, though payments wait until you are back online. ServiceTitan, FieldPulse, FieldEdge, Service Fusion, Synchroteam and ServiceM8 keep working with no signal and sync when it returns. If you bill from crawl spaces, mechanical rooms and rural driveways, that last group is your short list.
Which plan includes the QuickBooks sync
Almost all of these talk to QuickBooks Online, so the question is which plan you have to buy to get it. Jobber holds two-way sync for the Connect plan at $99 a month (as of August 2026). GorillaDesk puts it on Pro and up. Service Autopilot puts it on the top Elite tier only. Kickserv includes QuickBooks Online and charges extra for Desktop. Housecall Pro includes it from Essentials at $149 a month. ServiceM8 and Synchroteam include a free two-way sync at every paid level. FieldEdge runs a deep real-time sync that covers Desktop, which is most of its pitch, and FieldPulse and Service Fusion cover Desktop too. If your bookkeeper still runs Desktop, that cuts the list fast.
Chasing the ones that go unpaid
Housecall Pro is the only one here that documents automatic reminders on the invoice itself. Everywhere else, your defense is collecting before you leave or setting the customer up to pay on their own. Service Fusion gives customers a web portal to view a job and pay online. Method:CRM does the same and syncs the payment back to QuickBooks in real time. GorillaDesk adds a customer portal on Pro and up. For repeat customers, auto-billing beats reminding. GorillaDesk runs subscription auto-billing on Pro, FieldPulse bills maintenance agreements on a schedule, and Jobber and Service Autopilot auto-bill recurring jobs. Set that up once and those invoices stop being something you chase.
