The best payment processing software for trades
Card processing is priced in fractions of a percent, and those fractions add up to real money. Housecall Pro lists cards from 2.59%. ServiceM8 Pay is about 3.05% plus 30 cents in the US (as of August 2026). On $40,000 a month in card volume, that gap is roughly $184, which is more than most of these platforms charge for the software itself.
Who wins where
I want the tool that covers the most ground. Ranked by how many of this category's jobs the tool does out of the box. Features that cost extra count for less than ones that are included, and we do not reward a long feature list if half of it is an add-on.

What decides it in payments
The published rate and the one you get
Some of these tools publish a card rate and the rest keep it behind a sales call. Housecall Pro lists cards from 2.59% and bank transfers at 1%, with Instapay payouts adding 1% on top (as of August 2026). Workiz Pay goes as low as 2.69% plus 30 cents, with bank transfer around 1%. Jobber Payments runs about 2.9% plus 30 cents, bank transfer 1%. Service Fusion quotes rates as low as 2.90% plus 30 cents. ServiceTitan, FieldEdge, FieldPulse and Service Autopilot publish no rate at all, so yours comes out of a negotiation. Words like from and as low as mean that number is the best case. Ask for your rate in writing.
Keyed cards and bank transfers cost differently
The advertised rate is usually for tapping a card in front of the customer. Kickserv runs on Stripe at about 2.9% for a tap and 3.9% for a card typed in by hand, with bank transfer at 1%, and drops to 2.5% on the Premium plan (as of August 2026). On a $6,000 change-out, that keyed rate costs about $60 more than the tapped one. Bank transfer is the cheap lane on big tickets: 1% of $6,000 is $60, against roughly $174 at 2.9%. Two of these do not process at all. GorillaDesk connects to Stripe or Square and Synchroteam uses a Stripe connector, so the rate comes from the processor and not the software.
Payout speed and financing on big jobs
Money in the account today is worth more to a small shop than money on Friday, and vendors charge for the difference. Housecall Pro's Instapay adds 1% to the card rate for a faster payout (as of August 2026). Workiz Pay includes same-day payouts. Pay that 1% in a tight week, not every week. On a $12,000 replacement, the question changes to whether the customer can spread it out. ServiceTitan takes card, bank transfer or a payment plan on site. FieldPulse sells Financing as a separately priced add-on, and Housecall Pro pairs consumer financing with its multi-option estimates. Get both numbers: what the customer pays, and what you pay.
